Happy Friday! Happy Labor Day weekend! Happy Birthday to me on Labor Day! Did you know that Labor Day was actually created by declaring a city-wide, one-day strike for workers of almost every occupation? It was common in the 1800s for workers to work 60-70 hour weeks, and the “strike holiday” was meant to unify workers from all occupations to bring about better working conditions. So on September 5, 1882, workers celebrated their much deserved day off with a parade through New York City followed by a giant picnic. Some of those traditions still live on in our modern day Labor Day today!

Be safe this weekend everybody, there are many families traveling, camping and visiting beautiful Payson and Rim Country. Please, please honor our fire restrictions, and what you pack in, please pack out your trash. There are a lot of bears roaming so be safe.
