On Wednesday morning at 9:00am, the Payson Special Olympics were holding their 2019 Law Enforcement Torch Run. Members of the Special Olympics team and their supporters marched down the southbound lane of Highway 87, directly through the center of town, walking alongside police officers and law enforcement — it was amazing to see!

I happened to be in my office when I heard the sirens passing by, and when I realized what they were for, I grabbed my client, Laurie, and we ran out to the roadside to watch the procession together and cheer for the athletes! Cars were honking in support as they passed, and the sheer joy and excitement on the athlete’s faces was enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Where else in Arizona does the entire town stop to celebrate their local Special Olympics team? The amazing community support here in Payson, Arizona, is just one of many reasons why I love this town so much!
